WATCH: Ohio Republican Rep. Diane Grendell is testifying for her "Truth in COVID-19 Statistics" bill.

She claims the @OHdeptofhealth is reporting "one-sided and woefully incomplete" data in order to promote "fear and despair" in Ohio.
WATCH: Here are the data points Rep. Grendell is wanting the Ohio Department of Health to provide.

As I'll point out below, much of this data is *already being reported*.
For example: Grendell wants ODH to report the number of "individuals who have tested negative."

Well, ODH reports the total number of tests taken, and the number of positive cases. All you have to do is ... subtract those numbers.
She also spoke about wanting ODH to provide information of the "age range" of COVID-19 deaths.

ODH literally does that. Here is the range as of today:
She wants ODH to provide data of "the number of confirmed cases that did not require any medical care."

Once again, ODH does that. The % given here is the percentage of positive cases that required medical care. Subtract 17% from 100...
She wants ODH to provide the # of deaths that did not involve nursing homes/prisons.

ODH has an entire page on nursing homes. And the prison death numbers have been also widely, widely reported. Once again, simple subtraction is all that is necessary.

In a discussion about trying to ascertain facts, Rep. Grendell asks colleague Rep. Fred Strahorn about pronouncing his name. Strahorn's been a state legislator for nearly 20 years.
Grendell returned to the old "flu vs. coronavirus" chestnut and also mentioned that people continue to die of other causes than the virus.

Yes. Except those other reasons differ in that they are not extraordinarily contagious.
Lastly, Grendell complained repeatedly in her testimony about the initial COVID-19 modelling predicting "10,000 deaths per day" in Ohio.

Grendell is confused. The early models predicted a surge of 10,000 *cases* per day, not deaths.
Several lawmakers from both parties asked Grendell Q's. At no point, AFAIK, did any mention the obvious fact that much of her requested data is already being reported.

It would amaze you how little some of those tasked with legislating COVID-19 actually know of what's going on.
