But what *are* heat pumps?

Jordan: "What we really want to emphasize is good quality equipment, good design and good installation practices." #Reframed

Jordan shows some examples of heat pump integration in multi-family building environments. #Reframed

Some common issues:

- sizing
- cost of gas vs. electricity
- incentives
- building integration
- legal (e.g., who pays for heat)
- fully electric vs. hybrid
- global warming potential re: refrigerants

Jay from Olympic is up now and will speak to the equipment side of the discussion. #Reframed

Jay is showing some products currently on the market. "These are designed for cold weather climates." (-15/-22°) #Reframed

Jay notes Vancouver's Olympic Village as an example of success where his org has brought in heat pump technology. #Reframed

Vancouver City Hall did a retrofit in 2017 that included a heat pump installation.

Jay: "This has saved them 45% in gas usage." #Reframed

Don & Thomas from Alterna are up now. They'll provide a contractor's perspective for our discussion and touch upon their experience with the Sundance project in Edmonton. #Reframed #yeg

Don: "We want to use these efficiency upgrades with a larger picture in mind."
