I'm happy there is a lot of by Asians over the Asian cop in Minneapolis.

But Asian American race discourse is so inadequate, all we can say about him is 'model minority!'

It's just not helpful.
Also, the usual accusations that "East Asians" are "just as bad" as whites.

First, just b/c the cop is light-skinned and looks like a total dork, does not mean he's "East Asian." Weird racialism there.

Second, Asian anti-blackness is not the motivating force within police.
The discussion of Asian anti-blackness is needed, AS IS a discussion of the huge number of anti-Asian hate crimes by black people. I know it's not PC or comfortable, but it's real.

This incident is about white supremacy in police departments all around the country.
It's too easy for us to just throw every incident into the existing discussions around 'model minority' and 'Asian anti-blackness' but that doesn't mean it makes any sense.
