Say their names.
Remember the reason they died: for living while black.
Remember the officers responsible.
Keep the conversation going beyond a retweet.
Have it reflect in your voting, have it reflect in your relationships.
This isn’t new.
We are responsible.
Say their names.
Fellow white/white passing folk— my friend Siena shared this link with resources for us to educate ourselves on the topic of racism. I want to share it with you all as well: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BRlF2_zhNe86SGgHa6-VlBO-QgirITwCTugSfKie5Fs/mobilebasic
Also, I know that awareness is incredibly important— but please take into account the mental toll the videos of murder can take on our black siblings. We are all in this together. Take care of each other. Abrazos.
Remember your privilege and TALK ABOUT IT. Black and brown people are dying at the hands of the police solely for existing. Not 2 weeks ago there were white folk up in their faces fighting ‘for their rights’ and I didn’t see tear gas thrown at them, let alone murder.
And remember to speak WITH your siblings— not over them, not for them. Speak with them. With. WITH. Listen, hear, comprehend, and use that information to further educate yourself and those around you.
