“a lot of the ferguson protesters” haven’t died. i feel like i’m about to lose my shit about this fucking narrative. my nerves are fried and we’re fighting death from so many different directions right now and i’m literally begging y’all to quit fucking saying we’re all dead. https://twitter.com/__natalieee/status/1265476832943648769
idk if it’s miscommunication or if ppl are just really into romanticizing what the fuck it means to be targeted by police but i’m telling you it’s a different kind of suffocation to have sacrificed so much in 2014 alongside SO MANY PEOPLE and read repeatedly that most of us died.
i think ppl who didn’t live thru ferguson have no idea how hard so many of us have had to work, fight, adapt & advocate for ourselves to stay afloat. many us have been thru so much WHILE mourning ppl we knew or remember & saying we’ve mostly died is an insult to that effort.
i’m so angry my heart is in my fucking throat right now. there were HUNDREDS of us in the streets & DOZENS of us stayed for months. we weren’t all murdered by the FBI. we’re still here. honor the ppl who’ve passed & the ppl still alive by caring enough to get the story right.
i’m def feeling this more acutely b/c last night & the last few days? weeks? have been absolute shit when it comes to death & grief but i am fucking begging yall TO QUIT SAYING MOST OF US DIED just to boost whatever well-intentioned point you’re trying to go viral making. please.
i am so fully at my wits’ end rn. fully.
