Why does it always have to be about race? It doesn’t. Until it is. All of these frequent informal public executions of Black people for an alleged offense without a legal trial have a name. Lynch. Thinking on #GeorgeFloyd.
No one should have to have their murder recorded and shared around the World just for a chance, slim chance, at justice. Not only is it dehumanizing, the footage is also a tool. Ever wonder why such incriminating evidence is never seized? #GeorgeFloyd
It serves the purpose of reminding those watching, all over the World, what the value of Black people is in 2020, and how that value does not differ from 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900. #GeorgeLloyd
That’s 400+ years of persecution. Trauma is hereditary, racism is not. Trauma leaves a chemical mark on the genes which passes through the generations, racism is taught by parents, teachers, communities, and media.
So, why does it always have to be about race? It doesn’t. It shouldn’t. But it is, and it ruthlessly continues to be.
