Coal was discovered in Enugu in 1909 and that led to the founding of Port Harcourt 3 years later. By 1915,the first export of Enugu coal left for Britain through Port Harcourt.

A railway was built between Enugu and PH within 3 years...
passing through places like Aba,Umuahia etc.

people started flocking to this area with huge economic promises.

Early in 1929, the colonial government decided to relocate the entire headquarters of all of Southern Nigeria from Lagos to Enugu to be closer to the booming "goldmine" of the colony.
This move was bigger than the move from Lagos to Abuja in 1991.

Then in November-December,same year, Agwu probably visited his people again and the 'revolution' (Ogu Umu Nwanyi/Women's war/Aba Women Riots) started against the 'caliphate' and 'Ruga' policy of the time
( Warrant Chiefs and taxation of women) resulting in the killing of more than 55 women to subdue the revolution.The colonial government was rattled. Women kwa?
