what's the best advice anyone's ever given you?

mine was maybe my dad telling me that if someone starts to say something and then says, "you know what never mind," let them abandon that sentence, you probably didn't need to know

another piece of good advice i got was: "answer suffering with kindness" which has been very useful to me in every area of my life

my mom told me one time when i was upset about a boyfriend:

"this is what him loving you looks like. your job is to decide if you can accept that or not."

anyway just interesting because most of the time i think truth is too big to be summarized neatly into a catchy one-liner but NOT ALWAYS.
