alright boys..... back on my 5ds bullshit and god damn, they really did put all of the budget into this episode.... episode 56 looks like Trash so episode 57 could make yusei pretty
i can see the beads of SWEAT on his forehead..................
starlight road is so unbelievably op w h a t
"if you try to destroy two or more cards, not only is the effect negated, but i also get to summon my ace monster uwu eat ass rutger"
i mean i know yusei didn't say eat ass rutger but like. that move said eat ass what the fuck
how many fucking traps and attacks are the two of you going to NEGATE, jesus CHRIST...........
it's been two turns and all the dialogue is "you've triggered my trap card, i activate this monster's effect, you've triggered my trap card, i activate the spell card, you've triggered my trap card you've triggered my trap card you've tri--
ok but seriously i really do be finding it super interesting that yusei takes something that is literally not his fault, and like. makes it his fault. like he feels guilty/implicated in his father's mistakes, because it was the accident that came about from papa fudo's research
that took away jack and crow's parents, and also ultimately doomed a fuck ton of people to a life of poverty even worse than what they had before; this is mostly headcanon that could be incorrect, but i interpret that satellite was always a project. it would make sense like why
people already see being born in satellite as a bad thing or something that makes you less worthy, despite that the accident occurred like all of 17 years ago, and also it would make sense like. why they did the research there in the first place. since it was an experimental
project, if satellite was already a poor/crime-ridden area, a lot of researchers (which this is like super gross lol) see those lives as already meaning less in the first place, so it wouldn't "matter as much" if something went wrong.

i don't imagine that they necessarily saw it
in such clear cut, black and white terrible terms, but i definitely think they were like "oh this part of town sucks anyways, nobody will mind if we just drill underground and make a mess :)"

this gets extra icky when you think about the fact that the fudos are canonically rich
yusei was born in tops, which means the fudo family was like. top 1% of neo domino city. and i think that's actually a really fascinating angle to put on papa fudo because like..... then it makes a little more sense as to why yusei is still blaming himself and seems to reckon w/
his father and the legacy that lives in him (fuck bro, he looks just like the dude)

because i started this twitter thread because i was like "hm. seems a little weird to me that yusei would be so... bent on blaming his dad despite the fact that rutger just revealed that like.
it wasn't prof fudo that did this. *HE* caused zero reverse on purpose. prof fudo tried desperately to stop it. and yet even after being told that, yusei not only still puts responsibility on his father, but also on himself; he takes on this guilt and it weighs on him even when
for all intents and purposes his father is cleared"

but now i think there's an interesting thread here where yusei seems to have a lot to say about class, just in and of himself. even though prof fudo like. didn't set off zero reverse, and didn't want to hurt people w/ his
research at all, he *did* still propose a research project to do with energy in the middle of a very populated area, and he deliberately did it in a place that was already impoverished and broken, so that he, a rich person, would be far away from the consequences should anything
go awry. he still put tops lives and other upper echelons people's lives over the lives of the already destitute. there's also no telling if their research had any adverse effects outside of the accident--it's a new form of energy, which is a very volatile thing; nuclear reactors
are *far* from well populated areas for this reason--should a meltdown occur, it keeps people safe. the fact that they discovered this energy in the middle of a city and then didn't evacuate those blocks or try to find it elsewhere (such as in places like the nazca lines, which
seemed to be mostly unpopulated???? i can't remember if boomer's village was near there) again, sets a precedent for prof fudo thinking that his research is so perfect, of course it wouldn't fall apart/cause damage, or that he simply didn't take into account the lives of the
people in satellite.

thus like, yusei being resentful of his father actually makes a whole lot of sense, and as is the case with most bad things, yusei takes that responsibility onto himself... it really makes me wonder like. who taught him that.
sorry to meta like this on main but golly, i really be thinking about writing a genuine essay about yusei fudo and his guilt complex
