1/ Here is my story: after living in SF for 6 years, I moved up to Seattle 8 months ago at last

2/ My main concern was missing out on the tech scene and giving up the SF level of ambition. That didn't end up happening. I kept in touch with many tech folks, angel investors, founders, and friends and still feel very connected to the tech industry

3/ I was surprised by the number/success of SEA-based startups ( @convoyteam, @offerup, @remitly, @roverdotcom to name a few), and I expect more to come as companies go remote. The local VC scene includes firms like @psl, @madronaventures, @flyingfishvc

4/ Seattle is on a building spree. The city has been investing in housing & public transit infrastructure. In 2018 Seattle built 17k apartments; an additional 45k are in the pipeline. Light rail from the airport to downtown is $3, 30min ride, clean & efficient, feels like Europe

5/ SEA is only 2h flight away from SF (there's a @flyjsx route), 2h ride away from Vancouver and Portland. 2h drive to fantastic cabins and lodges like Suncadia or Sun Mountain. 2h to Leavenworth, a Bavarian-styled village. Did I mention not much traffic?

6/ Seattle has splendid outdoors: Mt Rainier, Olympics, Cascades, 500+ parks. Our pup has been loving exploring new trails and waterfronts every time we go for a walk

7/ Perfect for biking, hiking, running, rock climbing, kayaking, sailing, you name it. Many excellent ski resorts within 1-2h drive. One of the best in the world is 4h away (Whistler)

8/ University of Washington ( @uw) is one of the top US universities. Magnificent 700-acre campus with landmark buildings such as Suzzallo Library, lined with Yoshino cherry trees. Has a Berkeley feel to it. Right in the center of the city

9/ Seattle is home to some of the best breweries and coffee shops: @holymtnbrewing, @elysianbrewing, @fremontbrewing, Espresso Vivace, @seacoffeeworks, @ladroroasting are all based here. The food scene is thriving. Some of the best seafood I've had has been in Seattle
