For anyone in UCU worrying that we are about to re-ballot in June: the motions not heard today were remitted to another meeting of HEC and we are already getting underway with planning how to call that meeting. I do not - repeat not - expect there to be re-ballots in June. /1
Without wishing to pre-empt HEC (something one should never do of a democratic meeting, regardless!) almost *nobody* spoke at briefings or BDMs for June reballots + contributions to debate today recognised it would be a bit soon + difficult in the coronavirus pandemic context. /2
The next HEC meeting will have a slightly different membership: the ppl elected last year have a year left & the people recently elected will begin. Some have left (because they finished their 6 yr consecutive limit / didn't get elected / decided not to stand). However... /3
As has been the current mood in discussion on 'this' HEC I find it hard to imagine the next meeting is going to be urgently planning a June reballot. No 100% guarantees of course but seems unlikely. Don't think that's any major industrial secrets revealed there in this thread! /4
