The Board of Tribeca Film Institute recently made the decision to pause all of TFI’s programs and activities and re-evaluate how best to support storytellers and our community as New York recovers from the crisis left in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the coming weeks and months we will be winding down our existing programming and staff. TFI will pause operations effective September 15th, 2020.
We must address incorrect information in the press regarding this decision. The majority of staff will leave TFI on June 30th with a small number remaining through September 15th.
It is premature to speculate as to what happens on the other side of this pause, including whether any TFI employees will be placed at Tribeca Enterprises.
We are proud of TFI’s impact on the industry over close to 20 years but most of all we are proud of the role we played in the careers of the filmmakers we supported. They are our legacy.
We hope that as we individually chart our new path forward we’ll be able to work alongside them once more – and find new and exciting ways to collaborate creatively together.
