After sharing this, I got a few messages that said, "It's hard to know how to help."

so I asked a few people and we put together a list of ways to do your part during this pandemic.

See something missing? reply and I'll toss it in photoshop and add it to the thread.

1. Support Others
@frontlinefoods delivers food to essential workers. They have chapters across the US.

I'm doing food checks with @MyrtleAveBklyn. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/3gimgS2

If you aren't comfy volunteering, there are orgs like @wantnotneedfund you can donate to!
Don't underestimate the power of your impact.
not going outside sucks, no one is disputing that.

In a recent interview Dr. Fauci acknowledged that some states, like CA, are seeing spikes in cases upon reopening. While this is to be expected, it should not be taken lightly.

3. Utilize non peak hours!

Fauci warns the public should not be overconfident, as the effect of spread won’t be seen for 2 to 3 weeks.

“We encourage people...to be prudent and take a careful look at the guidelines and, to the best extent possible, to follow them."
4. Check in on your people.

Acknowledge that it is hard to be vigilant and that this is unprecedented for all of us.

Set consistent call times.

Use meals or other times you’re normally used to socializing as natural benchmarks.
Point to facts (100,000 have died. Nothing has changed medically despite places reopening. We do not have adequate testing or contact tracing. There is no cure. Black people are disproportionately being affected.)
Commit to helping people you love face the painful reality that despite our desire/privilege to avoid the facts, this pandemic is not over and is still killing people.
6. Find ways to experience community digitally!

#Animalcrossing anyone?!
7. If you're doing social distancing hangs, increase your distance from 6 ft to 8 ft.

Use physical objects and measurements to help keep you honest.
8. If you have to break quarantine, don’t broadcast it.

Posting about it implies you think it’s acceptable, which furthers us being lax as a community. If this virus didn’t have asymptotic folks, then this wouldn’t be as big of an issue, but you can be sick without knowing.
We are learning a new way to be so give yourself grace, but also accept responsibility to try to do better.

Keep your circle as small as possible and don’t add new people to it.
9. Shop local, shop black

If you have the money and ability, shop local.
Try @eatOkraTheApp or http://www.blackownedbrooklyn.com .

Protecting and respecting people needs to be shown in personal interactions, the way you vote and rally, and the direction your money is going if possible.
