Canucks fans who weren’t around for the 2003 NHL playoffs series between Vancouver and Minnesota missed out on the bemused daze that occurred after a Darby Hendrickson point shot beat Dan Cloutier.
Walking home after the game there wasn’t the usual anger in the air. It was just a lot of people talking to their buddies going “Minnesota? Really?”

People could both believe and not believe losing to that team.

The Wild would go on to score one, ONE goal in the next round.
Watching that 2003 Minnesota team was a horrifying pain I wouldn’t wish on any hockey fan. Imagine something you love and then imagine Minnesota kicking it down the stairs.

Except they don’t kick it down the stairs they just ice it repeatedly and stuff the neutral zone.
Anyways I’m excited to see more of one of the weirdest short lived rivalries continue, albeit it with more Elias Pettersson goals and less Wes Walz goals.

Seriously though not enough is made about the Wild being shutout out three times and scoring only once against the Ducks.
