Hello Friends and Chimera Heads,
The Chromatic Chimera channel was started by a small group of friends to tell stories through the medium of TTRPGs, and we continue to be a group of friends going on a journey of storytelling through TTRPGs as a hobby. However, we do recognize
that our channel has an audience. Our streams get eyes on them, and we have an active, passionate, and supportive community. It is this community, as well as the greater community at large, to which we have a responsibility.
By streaming a TTRPG rules system, not only are we showing support for that system, but we are essentially providing a free platform of advertisement for that product.
With recent events regarding Mike Mearls’ employment status at Wizards of the Coast (WotC), the team at the Chimera has decided that we cannot in good conscience stream any new games or campaigns of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5e).
This is not a conclusion we came to easily, as many of our GMs and cast members are well-versed and heavily invested in the system, and have been with it for quite some time. Some of us are sacrificing exciting opportunities in order to take a stand against WotC’s non-response to
the Mike Mearls issue.
By maintaining Mearls’ employment, WotC continues to go against the very core beliefs and values that our channel holds: A safe and inclusive space for sharing a love of TTRPGs. That is why, going forward, we will not be streaming any new content utilizing
D&D 5E.

What does this mean for our current projects?
Our current D&D 5e projects will continue, but we will no longer stream them under the “Dungeons and Dragons” category on Twitch. Rather, we will exclusively stream under
“Tabletop RPGs” to avoid further supporting and promoting WotC. We are letting our current D&D 5e casts decide if they wish to switch systems mid-campaign or continue with D&D 5e to finish their games. We recognize that learning new systems is not always accessible or
affordable, so we believe it's still important to provide a space for our community to finish their current stories.
We understand not every channel or group can take this stance; D&D pulls in views, we understand that. We do not fault freelancers or publishers of
3rd party content (such as DMG content), and intend to continue supporting them however we can. However, until WotC takes meaningful action to address the systemic issues they uphold, we cannot continue to support their game with our community.
