I believe that people are innocent until proven guilty. I believe in due process.

However, too often when people say “wait until all the evidence comes out,” what they are really saying is “wait for everyone to forget.”
Please recognize who you are giving the benefit of the doubt to.

Where was due process for the man who was jogging, the one you claim was a robber?
How much more investigating do you need to tell you it’s wrong that a cop continued to suffocate a man even after his body went limp? As he begged for relief because he couldn’t breathe? Is video evidence enough for you?
A woman hysterically called the police claiming to fear for her life because a black man asked her to leash her dog.

Many of you were quick to say we didn’t know the whole story.

True, but after an investigation, will you speak out if the woman was in the wrong?
Will you follow the story until it is complete and we know all the facts? Will you then speak out for people who are wrongly targeted?

Or will you forget about it and resume your life, having contributed only excuses to an important conversation.
Racism still exists. Think about the role you play in shaping dialogue.

I hope you want to help others. I hope you don’t want to turn a blind eye to injustices that make you uncomfortable.
