What a time to be an artist or self-employed. (a thread) ⬇️
Almost globally freelancers receive limited (or no) support from government.

Much (if not all) of their work has dried up, yet existing wealthy employers are asking for discounts. 🧐

Charities beg for aid (or their time - for free of course)...
...and naturally a lot of their peers, running out of money, turn to other freelancers for help. (Birds of a feather)

If wise, some might have some savings, but never enough to last forever.

And yet there remains this stigma that they made their bed, so they should sleep in it.
Yet the self-employed are obliged to pay tax like the rest with all sorts of bureaucratic bollocks designed to get the taxmans money as fast possible.

Add all this up, plus the possibility that it will take a long time to start earning again... well... you get the picture.
I always wonder what a regular monthly pay-check earning employee would do if the company they worked for constantly asked them for a discount on what they pay them, paid them late and ultimately devalued their contribution to the company.
Pay artists in full, on time, for what they worth.

It’s that simple.
