1. Yesterday I saw the video of a woman threatening to call the police and tell them “An African America man is threatening my life” he had just asked her to keep her dog on a leash. Today I saw a video of police kneeling on a man who couldn’t breath until he died.
2. A couple of weeks ago I saw a video of an innocent man getting chased down and shot dead whilst jogging. Around the same time I saw a tweet from Ian Wright with disgusting racist abuse, the same thing that many black people famous or not suffer online daily
3. Last year there were two incidents where people drove past my partner, the mother of my children and called her a n***er, no discussion before hand, no explanation, just hatred.
4. I Think it’s also worth pointing out I moved out of London and live in an area where the local (Tory)
MP went to a party in blackface, refused to apologise and went as far as to say dressing up in blackface was ‘harmless fun’ no wonder racists in this area feel empowered.
5. He wasn’t at all punished by the Tory party, whose currently leader also has a track record of saying racist things so it’s no wonder that racists in this country are feeling more empowered in general.
6. Back in primary school I witnessed black and Asian children being racially abused by teachers and the head master, from speaking to people about this I realised it wasn’t at all uncommon in schools all over the country.
7. As a teen I witnessed police harassment towards friends of mine who were black and Asian, I never witnessed the same treatment towards my white friends and some of those white friends broke the law A LOT!
8. I writing this because it’s way past the point of having had enough, it’s at a point where if you’re white and not actively working against racism and racial discrimination then you need to be, if you care that is.
9. If you don’t think racism is a problem, think black face isn't offensive, think institutional racism doesn’t exist, or you are trying to defend online racism as ‘banter’, defend people that have taken these innocent peoples lives or think that they were justified in some way -
10. ... then FUCK YOU. Sorry to put it so blunt but I’ve had enough, if any of the above apply to you please unfollow me and don’t ever listen to my music or come to my shows, you are not welcome.
11. Love to all the good people of every race who are trying to change things for the better, the way isn’t always clear but as long as we have the will we will find the way eventually.
