Ireland, #CrushTheCurve and #COVID19 a thread.

So, we’re out of the deep dark forest, but we’re still in the woods. Our emergency response has worked, and we are coming out of lock-down.
What next?
1/
The current plan is a 5 stage move from the lock-down to ‘normal life’, but with continuing #COVID19.
We’d be sort of back to the ‘new normal’ by September or October.
2/
The ‘new normal’ is limited public transport, schools open 3 days a week for each child, limited and expensive child care, limited social activity. Costs will be high, and more jobs will be lost.
3/
There is an alternative. #CrushTheCurve
This means we plan to get rid of the virus by
1) Masks
2) Working fast testing and tracing
3) Quarantine at airports

Be more flexible about moving out of lock-down, speed up or slow down as needed
4/
To do this
1) Make a decision
2) Risk assess every piece of the lock-down and the recovery plan
3) Be flexible, and ready to change and adapt
5/
The benefits
Faster recovery for more jobs
Less overall costs
Better travel opportunities, and more choices for tourism and business travellers
6/
The costs
Slower move from Phase 1 out
Much more testing and tracing
Using masks in everyday life
Quarantine stays for now at airports
Best done all-island
