THREAD: Hard-line Brexiteer and Boris Johnson supporter Sir Bernard Jenkin is leading the #LiaisonCommittee that will question Johnson about his toxic aide Dominic Cummings at 4pm.

We will be watching carefully @bernardjenkin. A whitewash will harm the government and country...
Tory MPs who have been critical of @BorisJohnson have been BANNED from asking questions in the #LiaisonCommittee

Given that they are being silenced, it would be an idea to keep an eye on Tobias Ellwood's and Tom Tugendhat's tweets and press statements
The fundamental things that cannot be denied is Dominic Cummings broke the rules other people followed AND he has lied repeatedly - and used the office of @10DowningStreet to lie for him.

He has brought the Government into disrepute and has turned the UK into a laughing stock
#LiaisonCommittee

Boris Johnson: I'd like to talk about something else to take up time of the committee

"I think what the public want us to focus on...." nope @BorisJohnson most of the country says Cummings lied and want him sacked
Boris Johnson: "I'm not certain that right now that an inquiry into that matter [into Cummings breaking rules / law and then lying to the public and his boss] is a very good use of official time"

Translation: "We know he lied but I need him so fuck of!f"

#LiaisonCommittee
"I have no reason to believe that there is an descent from what I said a few days ago" @BorisJohnson

Translation: "I read what Dom told me to say to fudge over this and that is all he is letting me say"

#LiaisonCommittee
On why he let his disgraced aide use the Downing Street's rose garden (a place for heads of states) to try to lie his way out of trouble, @BorisJohnson said: "*Gasps* er I thought it er would er be a er very good thing if people could er understand what I had understood..."
"We had a long go at it [getting Dominic Cummings' lies as straight as possible in the context of three smoking guns] and yeah look it's been a very um a very frustrating episode and I understand why why people are so HAVE been so concerned"

No @BorisJohnson ARE was right.
"It's been a very frustrating episode and I understand why people are so.. have been so concerned because this country is going through such a horrendously difficult time"

Wow, effin gasslighting us now, @BorisJohnson. Like a domestic abuser. Truly atrocious.

Wrong is wrong
"Er I really think that you know erm in so far as what we need to do is er focus on [makes awkward chopping movement like a tragic middle class rapper] getting the message right then I think what we need to do is move on"

Translation: "I need my psychopathic gollum"
"We have a plan. We've been going through it. It's working"

Translation: "70,000 dead plebs but I'm okay and I'm keeping my my lying little gollum because he knows too much about me. Fick the lot of you!"

#LiaisonCommittee
"I actually think you've been brave. Brave in the way you've been prepared to sacrifice the credibility and popularity of your own government just to stand by your man. You've managed to unite a nation in condemnation and indignation of your handling of Cimmings"

@PeteWishart
"80% of the the British public now think Dominic Cummings broke the rules. 63% say you should sack him. But the most worrying thing @BorisJohnson is that 65% say his conduct makes it less likely that the public will not follow lockdown rules...
...."Surely no man is more important than keeping this nation SAFE?"

@PeteWishart at the #LiaisonCommittee

Boris Johnson: The public is wrong
Boris Johnson: "What we need to do now as politicians and leaders is to move on"

The point @BorisJohnson is YOU are NOT leading. You are being led by an unelected toxic hard-right lying political vandal who even David Cameron called a psychopath

You have lost control
"This is just growing and growing @BorisJohnson. The anger is reaching fever pitch. Riding this out just looks like petulant defiance. It's almost like goading the nation. You know that eventually you will have to let him go. Why don't you now juat get on with it?"..
Boris Johnson reply to @PeteWishart: "Pete thank you so much erm for you point. I consider that to be erm you know erm it's it's a valuable piece of erm of erm [reads notes] you are making a political point um um um a piece of political advice"

For the love of God
Simon Hoare (Tory): "If the R rate starts to creep up and lockdown needs to be replaced either as it is or more full and robust, my inbox tells me that, as a result of the last few days, the response of the British people is going to be far less energetic than first time round"
..."That is a direct result of the actions of your senior advisor...We know what your views are but frankly @BorisJohnson I don't think anyone understands WHY you hold those views. Why to we say to our constituents who are likely to stay 'you can keep your lockdown'"
Boris Johnson: "I don't think that true"

Fascinating, so @BorisJohnson calls one of his party colleagues a liar after having believed blatant lies from a toxic unelected aide.
Meg Hillier: " @BorisJohnson you said that a number of the allegations [about Dominic Cummings during his holiday in County Durham] were false. Yiu were with him for 6 hours. Did you see evidence to prove that?"

BJ: "Erm Meg erm I, I you know! I don't to go into it...."
Meg Hillier: "Yes or no. it's a simple question. Yes or no? Did you see the evidence?

BJ: "I don't want to go into much more that I've said"

MH: "It's a simple question. Did you see the evidence?"

BJ: "Urm if it pleases you I will say yes but I don't want to don't want to..."
MH: "Would it be a good idea for the cabinet secretary to see the evidence?"

BJ: "Well er er erm I think actually it would be not be doing my job if I was to shuffle this problem into the hands of officials"

Wow, @BorisJohnson the issue is AN UNELECTED AIDE IS DOING YOUR JOB
"I understand public indignation" says @BorisJohnson, who called £275,000 for one morning's work a week "chickenfeed", before repeating the line: "IT WOULD BE MUCH BETTER IF WE COULD NOW MOVE ON"

Better for YOU. But some of us have a conscience and want this dealt with
Yvette Cooper: "It's extremely surprising that you won't provide that 'evidence' to the cabinet secretary or have any independent verification of it"
Yvette Cooper asked a floundering @BorisJohnson about what the government advice is on child care [in light of Dominic Cummings' taking a tour of the northeast] and Johnson was so all over the place I can hardly describe it. Porky Pig on ketamine perhaps...
