@Tracinski Perhaps another way to revisit my previous point comes from Chinese military history. Chen Shen was a general in the draconian Qin dynasty. En route to a rendevouz he and his army were trapped by rain and were going to be late no matter what.
So Chen Shen turns to his friend Guang Duo:
"What's the penalty for lateness?"
"Death"
"And what's the penalty for rebellion?"
"Death"
"Well, then..."

And so begins the Dazexiang uprising which killed tens of thousands and eventually destroyed the Qin.
Moral: If you are completely rotten to people who have done no wrong, bad things will happen to you. Because if people are already doomed, they will feel they may as well do as much damage as possible on their way down.
This explains the nihilism that really powers Trumpism - "Burn-it-all-down" mentality. People on the Right know that they will be treated appallingly no matter what, so they feel they have nothing to lose.
