Without wanting to be overly critical of the media’s reaction to universities and the pandemic, I do want to encourage any offer holders or prospective applicants that follow this account to look into stories carefully before making any decisions about their future. (1/4)
Despite these very different headlines, both universities have announced practically the same thing, which is that, if social distancing makes it necessary, lectures will be held online, with the small group teaching (that makes Oxbridge so great) in person if possible. (2/4)
If I were a potential applicant reading this, I can imagine it would be very easy to assume that Cambridge is taking a severe stance on teaching compared to a lot of other universities, and I understand that this could impact choices concerning applications. (3/4)
However, please keep in mind that all UK universities will be under the same national guidelines, how they tackle this will differ, but all will be trying their best to give students the best experience possible, despite the pandemic. #CambTweet (4/4)
