Many of your children don’t play with black dolls.
They’re afraid of the black people they see in the grocery store.
They notice you lock your doors when a black person is standing on the sidewalk while you’re stopped at a red light.
All of their friends look like them.

The one or two black people you have on stage to meet your conference, “diversity quota” is not cutting it.
Presence of blackness ≠ influence of black thought.
Your orgs, churches and seminaries do not thrive when only one race and shared cultural experience is present.

You can wrestle through the discomfort. You can be the prophetic voice of acknowledgement, confession and repentance after you first have where necessary.

Be willing to lay down any idols of comfort or status that will be exposed as you speak truth to those around you.
