🚨 The "unthinkable" continues to happen in #highered.

#BREAKING - Hearing reports about #college applicants getting "unrejected" from some #colleges, including some highly selective ones.

Care to guess why? Working on getting more details. Stay tuned. #collegeadmissions
Those who are following this thread impatiently... Here is the summary of my findings after some digging:
1) Waitlists are being cleared faster than ever this year (Most of you knew this already). This is true in MANY accounts. Mostly those who could demonstrate "full pay" are cleared.
2) About waitlists... I also found out in numerous occasions that students who were originally placed in waitlists but opted OUT of being in the waitlist got contacted by the college(s) and offered a spot. This is NEW!
3) About "Unrejected"... A handful of institutions who offer "alternative ways" of admissions, i.e. start in the spring, abroad, attend campus x, etc., are reaching out to originally "rejected" applicants, offering these "alternatives" with "guarantee" to move to original campus
4)...as early as spring 2021. Common thread about those students who get contacted for "alternative" admissions.... You guessed it right... Full pay students.
5) In sum, business viability and survival trump selectivity for #highered institutions during this time of crisis given int'l and out of state student population (mostly full pay) decline significantly for a foreseeable future. Even at the expense of ethics and common sense.
