the deeper meaning behind the song false god: a thread
Before you read this thread just wanna let you know i've done some research to make this thread so the ideas are sometimes not mine.
False God is a song with the topic of religion, sex and love where Swift uses religious imagery to describe the love she's in.
On the first verse, Swift seems to experience many obstacles between her relationship with Alwyn. She describes it as the ocean that was separating them and that they were stupid to jump in it no matter the consequences.
I believe this took place at the start of their relationship as Swift claims that Alwyn is the "West Village. She and him lived together in an apartment that she rented in 23 Cornelia Street in New York's West Village years ago.
It wasn't easy to start their relationship and she knows it as she gets warned by these kind of complicated times during a relationship beforehand. Swift describes it as when the road gets hard and you get lost by blind faith.
The chorus is where Swift uses religion as the metaphor for the topic of love and sex. "False God" refers to the love she and Alwyn has for each other and how they'd worship it even if it is one. Swift explains that they might somehow get away with it.
Swift continues on the second verse as she describes heaven is the feeling of when he's touching her and hell as for when they're fighting. However, Swift explains that they can fix these conflicts by using religious-based activities as metaphors.
In conclusion, False God is a lyrical masterpiece that isn't just about sex but rather about a complexity of a relationship. Follow me for more threads like this✨ also thanks for @natheartstaylor for helping me on some of these
