Hey sizters 💁‍♀️💁‍♀️💁‍♀️💁‍♀️

Let's have a serious conversation for a moment.

Now, this conversation we're about to have may involve a topic that might be quite heavy, so please proceed with caution and an open mind.

And ofc, this is going to be a thread~
I recently saw a tweet wherein this person basically was saying how they will unfollow anyone who liked a certain artist's artwork, which is of Miku and Luka, and mentioned about how Miku is 16 and Luka is 20 and so on and so forth.
Some of y'all MAY ALREADY KNOW the tweet I'm describing or the person who tweeted said tweet, so before I proceed, a DISCLAIMER.

Please DON'T THREATEN OR ATTACK ANYONE. We don't condone that here. We are here to discuss a topic, this isn't about them.

Aight back to the topic~
When I saw the tweet, I was all "You do you, girl!" but what didn't sit well with me was the fact that they were sort of invalidating the artist's portrayal of the VOCALOID singers using their official profile.
If you are the kind of person who utilizes the official profiles of the VOCALOID singers in your works or portrayal, then you do you, girl, but you can't use that as a "pièce de résistance" to invalidate how other artists portray them.
Their official profiles/designs EXIST as an image/mascot to represent the voice. The voice, however, doesn't necessarily represent the mascot. It could represent anything or nothing at the same time and varies depending on the artist handling them.
This is the reason why artists create their own image of the VOCALOID singers they work with based on their own interpretation/portrayal of them. When they use VOCALOID, it no longer represents the product, it represents them now.
For every VOCALOID illustration you come across, you'll notice how THEY ALL HAVE VARYING DESIGNS AND PERSONALIES. That is even true for MMD models.

Even when the illustration or model has the EXACT SAME DESIGN as the official, it's still not the mascot itself.
The songs and illustrations do NOT represent the mascot, it represents us. It represents OUR portrayal of the voice.

VOCALOID has given us the creative freedom to portray them in our own unique way.
So please,

Don't invalidate how the artists portray the VOCALOID singers for their work doesn't represent the product, it represents the artists themselves.

I hope I've given all of you a new perspective on the VOCALOID dilemma ❤️❤️❤️❤️
