Oh buddy, this is gonna be a thread:

Why, in all that is holy, is #AllLivesMatter trending with more tweets than #GeorgeFloyd ? Why is #AllLivesMatter trending at all right now? This is a #BlackLivesMatter situation. A Black man was just killed. 1/8
When I was an Undergraduate. I did not understand the #BlackLivesMatter movement because the rhetoric seemed as though it was saying that they matter more. In all reality, it was my white privilege that made me see it this way. 2/8
No one had ever had to argue that their life actually mattered in my world. #BlackLivesMatter just wants the nation to know that their lives ALSO matter as much as anyone else's. Black folk like #AhmaudArbery #BreonnaTaylor and #GeorgeFloyd have been murdered by white people. 3/8
#AllLivesMatter is a movement of misunderstanding, and that is all it will ever be. Do not think for one second that this movement is supposed to raise people up. It is being used in argument to the #BlackLivesMatter Movement saying that #GeorgeFloyd was unjustly killed. 4/8
Lets say you have a family member that gets killed, and you're asking for justice (reasonable). How would it make you react/feel if someone said "Yea, your dead family member matters, but so do these living people!" as a retort to you stating you want justice. 5/8
I mean yes, they matter, but they were not just killed on video tape for no good reason. They were not part of a botched drug raid, they were not hunted by white men, they did not get choked to death by a law enforcement officers knee. 6/8
I don't know what I would do if this were my family member. I cannot fathom the pain and agony. I cannot grasp the reality of fear that POC live with everyday wondering if this will be their last. Stop #AllLivesMatter because its only silences those that need to be heard. 7/8
