Whiteness is more than power, privilege, + access. It dehumanizes all of us, including white ppl of European descent. I'm on a lifelong journey to heal from the erasure, disconnection, + isolation of this harmful conditioning, + offer this for white peers: https://bit.ly/3c6RhFo

Sometimes there are concerns re: the word "ally."
It can be self-centering when white folks apply it to ourselves.
It can imply that the fight for racial justice is that of Black, Indigenous, + ppl of color (BIPOC) most impacted, + we're only here to play a supporting role.

As human beings socialized as white, our work to decolonize our minds + bodies is very much part of this fight.
I use "ally" bc of the original prompt + audience accessibility. There are other words like accomplice, comrade, etc. to describe a LT commitment to solidarity.

This is my (evolving) truth + I offer it as perspective for learning/unlearning re: whiteness. May we show up in more authentic, grounded ways + build more accountable, joyful relationships w/ both BIPOC + other white ppl in our lives. The personal + professional are inseparable.
We can't go this alone.
