Just like we (journalists) write tons about sexual harassment in workplaces but never talked about how infested our own offices were with sex-pests, we will also not talk about how disposably journalists of mid-seniority level and below are treated. https://twitter.com/dhanyarajendran/status/1265607405057880064
Over the last 12 + years there's been a quiet and startlingly rapid increase in colleges that give you degrees in journalism.
Training is minimal, and below par
Graduating numbers every year are very very high
Once they join workplaces, a lucky few are mentored well.
And then something like this hits. Now tens and thousands of journalists, whose faces you don't see on social media or TV are going to be left without work, and without being equipped to work anywhere else.
But our newspapers will continue to write about job cuts in IT and manufacturing, only.
We'll continue to have webinars on job creation and whatever it is that (Times Group backed) Bennet University was sponsoring 10 days ago, even as newspapers and other media outlets fire folk
And let's not forget, most media outlets are still run by the boys' club

Which is why men like KR Sreenivas and Manoj Anthikad Ramachandran who have been accused of sexual harassment by multiple women will find jobs EVEN AFTER this because they'll chat their friends up.
They'll pull strings, shaft the fresh young people they hire in favour of the management, and continue climbing in their careers.

So if a woman journalist of not too many connections has found work in this atmosphere, it's pretty darned close to miraculous.
