minhee and eunsang have been bestfriends since highschool. they’re practically attached to the hip. everyone knew that where one of them goes, the latter always follows. it had always been like that; just the two of them together with no one getting in between them.
that is, until one day, jungmo entered the picture. jungmo was minhee’s childhood friend who went to the states at some point. deep in eunsang’s heart, he hoped that minhee would hate jungmo for leaving him all alone. sadly, that wasn’t the case at all.
minhee welcomed jungmo with open arms, saying how he missed the older so much. eunsang stood in the sidelines, watching the two catch up with each other. he was okay, atleast that’s what he thinks but he knew he wasn’t the moment minhee enveloped jungmo in a tight embrace.
eunsang’s heart clenched at the sight. he excused himself as tears started to well up. after that, minhee never saw eunsang again. the boy did his best to stay away from the latter yet minhee would always bother him about it. one day, minhee pulls him somewhere to talk.
“what have i done to you? you suddenly started distancing yourself from me. aren’t we bestfriends? we’ve been together for years, why are you doing this now?” minhee couldn’t hold back his tears. eunsang clenched his hands, his own eyes releasing sadness.
“that’s what i’ll always be to you, a bestfriend. minhee, i know i was just a replacement for jungmo. a temporary patch to fill that hole in your heart that longed for him since then. now that he’s back, you don’t need me anymore. you’re with the right person now.” eunsang smiled
“goodbye, minhee.”
