1. So many questions @CommonsLiaison committee need to raise with PM at 4 today. How did we come to have the highest number of deaths in Europe? Excess deaths since start of pandemic are far higher, at nearly 60,000, than the figures used at the daily briefing.
2. What does the PM acknowledge he got wrong, but even more importantly what has he learnt from international experience and practice in countries that did not see the same avoidable loss of life? What will he do differently in future?
3. Does he acknowledge that his handling of the Cummings saga undermines his own Government’s instructions and public health ?
What does he say to families who did follow his instructions, often at great personal cost & are furious that there is one rule for them and another for those at the heart of government?
5. Does he recognise the risk of a second wave & what is he doing to protect vulnerable rural and coastal communities in areas like Devon and Cornwall?
I hope someone holds him to account for ministers’ entirely false claims that a ‘protective ring’ was thrown around care homes from the start. It was not and thousands have died as a result.
Likewise the delays and failings on PPE for staff across the NHS and care.
What is happening about test, track and trace and why have government gone for a centralised model rather than one based in local communities led by directors of public health? How much was this due to the fragmentation & underfunding of PH since 2012
Will he commit to full transparency on scientific advice, publish all the advice given and the report on pandemic preparedness?
As lockdown eases and shops reopen, what has he been advised about the evidence on face masks for the public in enclosed spaces and will he implement this?
This virus has shown that we are not all in this together. It is widening already serious health inequalities and especially hitting BAME communities. What is he doing about this?
Few people have the luxury of issuing instructions to others to stay home, but themselves travelling hundreds of miles to a spare cottage with private woodlands despite knowing they are likely to be infectious, or nipping back to their place of work. It just won’t wash.
Will he commit to a public inquiry to learn lessons in real time rather than after a second wave?
Does he recognise the risks of No Deal Brexit coming on top of a second wave of coronavirus?
