Asian people, we have to do better. We can’t just pick and choose which parts of Black culture we want to participate in. If we love when they’re funny, happy, creative/innovative, and welcoming, then we need to be there with them when they’re tired, upset, and disappointed.
This goes for all non-Black POC, but as a Filipino woman living first hand around my people I know for a fact there is a lot of *necessary* room for improvement. Learn what’s happening, pay attention. Understand, then relay it to your family members young and old.
At the end of the day we DO NOT understand what it means to walk out of the house as a Black man/woman/nonbinary person.Their struggles are not the same as ours. We need to do our best to learn AS MUCH as we can, but also know we will never fully comprehend their day to day lives
This is why you can’t just take what belongs to them & run off w it simply because you think being a POC means it can slide. Do better y’all, I’m trying too.
