Okay so I watched a video on 17,000 year old cave paintings. It was a really interesting vid but also made a beautiful point - art is not optional for humans.
It really sent me down a rabbit hole. I feel as though art/self expression (I noticed this at school a lot) is looked at by many as an indulgent or non essential use of time.
Yet these people who lived a more brutal survivalist life than we could ever imagine felt the need to create these paintings, to leave their mark. Something instinctual within them!
Art is the bed rock of the tribe, its what holds community together. Art over time creates culture, and culture is how we relate to eachother or become fascinated by something. Its just so damn important to our existence. I guess just don’t ever listen if someone tells u its not.
