This targeted harassment of journalists must be called out. It is not just a threat to our democratic structures of accountability, at this moment in time, it is a threat to public health

So many people think this stuff doesn’t matter. ‘It’s just trolls.’ But it’s not. Accounts which don’t follow me or land on my tweets in minutes & hijack the conversation. They create the illusion of false consensus, false outrage.

And for these frontline broadcast journalists, at the moment, it is a full-on assault aimed at both discrediting & discouraging them

And what alarms me is that scientists & doctors are now being exposed to this. We are seeing the same attacks is on evidence-based science that we’ve seen for last 4 years on evidence-based journalism & it’s deeply concerning
