Late night thoughts...

I've seen people post about how students will be traumatized because they aren't in school. That assumes school is a neutral or welcoming space for students. For some students, they are probably learning the most they have in years
due to being liberated from the school building. Students can get up when they want to, wear the clothes they want, etc. For some students, this is the longest they have been "in school" without having to deal with the trauma that is caused by racist school policies
If we're going to reimagine schooling, it needs to begin with creating spaces for Black and Brown students to thrive. Idk what that will look like, but I know what it doesn't look like. We can't go back to "normal," the way things used to be before Covid-19.
