Vitiligo is a skin condition that causes loss of skin color in patches. This happens when the cells producing melanin, called melanocytes, stops functioning.

This skin condition affects all skin types but it's always more noticeable on dark skin. There is really no cure for it. However, Vitiligo is not contagious, neither is it life threatening. Vitiligo is hereditary, meaning it usually runs in families.
It is rather saddening that most people with Vitiligo have been stigmatized and abused atleast for a better part of their lives. This is wrong. These people are every inch of beautiful and they are not different from every other person out there.
