This seems both absurdly crawling - & #39;thank you for holding me accountable& #39;

He& #39;s just apologising because he could get away with it then but not now, if cultural mores were different he& #39;d probably still be doing it. https://twitter.com/jimmyfallon/status/1265386757958389768">https://twitter.com/jimmyfall...
I think this sort of thing is reflective of a post virtue ethics world - there& #39;s no room for personal character development, just the changing series of cultural norms about behaviour, and the attendant rituals of shame that accompany them.
The obsession with & #39;offence& #39; in US racial politics is cancerous, actual social justice goes out of the window, it& #39;s purely an internal discussion amongst pre-dominantly white political and cultural elites.
A lot white American discourse about race is really code for & #39;what compensatory language and behaviour can we adopt so we don& #39;t have to feel guilty about racial injustice& #39;.
This is idiotic and narcissistic of course, but the really toxic aspect of woke racial politics is the assumption that racial injustice is an intractable spiritual affliction - rather than a series of entirely addressable, if serious and complex, social and economic injustices.
