Character dissection:
Madara uchiha-the tragic savior

I've been seeing a lot of people call madara 1 note, I personally believe he's more nuanced then people give him credit for.

So,here's a thread explaining my reasoning.
Madara was born in the bloodiest era of the ninja, the warring states period.

The uchiha clan were one of two main players that participated in the war ,so madara had a front seat to all the atrocities committed during the era.
Madara was eldest of five brothers but, himself and his brother izuna were the only ones left alive.

Madara and Izuna would use their brothers death a motivation to get stronger and would compete against one another to test out their strength.
Upon meeting hashirama we would be given clear example of who madara uchiha really is.

Since his early childhood, Madara had always wished for peace.the only road he understood to meet that goal would be to build a village with hashirama.
Madara was also introverted.

Solitude was natural for him, he found it quite comforting.

He was uncomfortable around people and would much rather do things in the shadows on his own.

Opinions that weren't from hashirama or his kin meant nothing.
He was also a man who had a driving love for his family.

That love was his biggest strength and greatest weakness.

As he stated himself.
" a man who learns to love, must bear the risk of hate".

Once tobirama had killed his brother,
Madara words have never been truer.
But,he swallowed his hate for the sake his clan.

During a conversation with hashirama,Madara had asked the meaning of hokage and he answered this...

"The role of hokage is stay in village and protect everyone"

Madara had taken this saying to heart.
Konoha would name the next line of hokages democratically, this caused unease in madara.

He was well aware of the growing distrust between konoha and the uchiha.

He warned the uchiha but, they did not listen.
Now that the tobirama was most likely going to win, the uchiha clan would be in grave danger.

He had failed not only his brothers but,he failed his duty to the clan he swore to protect.

Madara has seen his life as failure... his decent would begin.
Madara would try to understand the meaning behind the uchiha stone tablet...

"One god, seeking stability, split into light and shadow and it is these two opposites operating together that gives rise to all things in this universe"...
Madara had looked deep within himself and realized something.

He not only loved the adrenaline of battle but, his true dream was not build peace within a village, it was recreate the god in the uchiha stone tablet in his image.
Madara would use the world as scapegoat for failing to protect his kin.

He projected his previous failures onto the world and caused it fall, just for him too come and save it.
Don't misunderstand,Madara still desired peace but, the world's view on peace did not align with his own,

so he rejected it.

He deluded himself into thinking that the world cannot attain true peace and that putting them in a dream was the only way it could happen.
Once he had put the world under infinite tsukiyomi he deluded himself into thinking he was the world saviour, even though he had failed his clan , he had now saved the world so it didn't matter.
During his savior delusions,he previously viewed the world as uncapable to improve on it's own,to leave the earth alone would mean it's self destruction.
For Madara the fight with Naruto and Sasuke would mean, if he lost he could leave the world in the hands of it's youth it also meant his one victory in life would be taken away from him.

And he couldn't stand it.
Madara is an introverted stubborn old fool who projected his failures onto the world.

He doesn't know how to accept the past without some kind of retribution for his failures.

Hopefully this thread had given some light onto the layers of madara's character.
