Was reading the news about Amy Cooper and Christian Cooper (no relation) and I couldn’t help but wonder—why is there a disproportionate number of white women calling the cops on black folx as opposed to white men?
And then it hit me: most of the news on white men against black folx (and other people of color) show quick escalations to violence. And, of course, a lot of them are white cops.
Does this also reveal a twisted power dynamic? White women would threaten to call the police so that the onus, whatever happens to those black folx, is transferred to the police?
Are gender inequity and racial bias exploited to reinforce the cultural-political hierarchy, which is stratified by gender and race, that ranks white men at the very top?
In addition, by transferring the onus to the police, there is an expectation that accountability more or less vanishes. Because, let’s face it, how many cops faced serious consequences for their crimes against black folx?
