"Kenma," Kuroo looked at him, a serious expression on his face, as they walked along the pathway at the park. The sun falling down, painting the sky different shades of orange and red, light posts lit, and trees around them. "Kenma…" he started again, nervousness taking over.
"Are you okay, Kuroo?" Kenma questioned, looking at him, strangely.

Stopping abruptly, Kuroo took Kenma's hand into his own, spinning him around so that he was facing him.
"What's wro-" Kenman started again, only to stop and find Kuroo down on one knee, and in the process of fiddling with his pocket to take something out.

"Kenma...ever since we were kids, you and I were always together. We stuck together all the way through high school.
And then when I had to leave to go to college, it pained me so much to leave you behind because I loved you since we were in middle school. So the day I left, I finally decided to tell you how I felt. And when you said you recuperated those feelings, I was thrilled.
You don't know how happy I was because I always thought you would think it's strange, and you wouldn't want to be friends anymore. That you would hate me for being attracted to my best friend. But instead, you returned those feelings, so we started to go out not too long after.
And after these five past years together with you as my boyfriend has been nothing but amazing. I've created so many memories with you that I never want to forget.
But I want to make so many memories with you in the future as we grow gray and old," he was able to take out a small black box and open it halfway through his speech. "Kenma, will you do me the honor of becoming my husband?"
Crying, Kenma slowly fell to the ground, he looked at his lover, who had so much hope in his eyes, but he knew there was even just a little bit, of worry ness behind all that hope. He slowly walks over to him on his knees and shakingly, closes the box, and pulls him into a hug.
He felt his own shoulder gradually become wet, as did Kuroo, "I...Kuroo, why did you have to ask now?"

"So it's a no then? You don't want to marry me?" He breaks out into more tears, his heartbroken. No words could ever describe how broken his heart was.
All that he lived and loved for were gone. He felt like he was going to die from heartbreak. The one and the only person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with said "no."
Pushing Kenma back he looks at him, with no more happiness or hope in his eyes, all the life in them has vanished, "so I guess this is goodbye then," he states in between his gasps for air.
He looks at the closed box in his hands, this was his answer then, he thinks to himself before putting the box back into his pocket as he stands up. He takes one last look at his former lover before he starts to walk away.
Kenma, gets up from his spot as fast as possible, legs shaking, running towards Kuroo, wrapping his arms around him from behind, “would you just wait for a second, Kuroo? I never gave you my direct answer,” he sobs into his significant others back, realizing the mistake he made.
“But you closed the box...isn’t that an answer enough?”

“No! That wasn’t my answer! I was just surprised! Taken aback! I...I didn’t think that you would propose to me...I was actually...I was actually planning on asking you in a few days.”
“You-you what?” Kuroo questions, surprised, Kenma was planning on proposing to me soon?

“I was planning on asking you. I had this whole idea planned out for a while now,” he confirms.

“Wait, so then it is a yes?”

“Yes! Of course, I will marry you, Kuroo!”
Kuroo turns around, trying to hide happiness in his eyes to make sure Kenma was actually sure, “you really want to marry me?”

“Kuroo! Of course, I want to marry you!” he pulls Kuroo down and gives him a kiss, letting all of his emotions flow into it.
--

Slowly opening his eyes, everything was blurry, blinding lights were the only thing he could see, “where-where am I?”

“Kenma! Oh thank god you’re awake!” he heard someone yell, he looks over and sees a light-brown blob in his vision, it’s probably Yaku, he thinks to himself.
“Where am I?” he asks again.

“You’re in the hospital,” Yaku confirms.

Everything suddenly overflows his memory, how he ended up here. We got hit by a car while we were out for a ride on Kuroo’s motorcycle, “where’s Kuroo? Is he okay? I need to know!” he asks frantically.
About to get out of the hospital bed, but Yaku stops him.

Yaku doesn’t answer him for a long time, “Yaku?” Kenma asks.

“I...I don’t know any other way to put this. This is the nicest way I can think of, but Kuroo has moved on...”
Knowing the true meaning of Yaku’s words, Kenma breaks down, tears start to overflow, “he passed away two years ago from heartbreak while you were in a coma,” he continues.

“You never proposed to me. It was just a dream.
But I wanted to grow old with you, and make so many more memories with you. Why did you have to leave me, Kuroo? There are no words to explain how much I loved you.
Please, I wish you would just come back to me, though I know that can’t happen now,” his heart, officially broken, the only thing left inside of him was hollowness.
