krbk au where kirishima asks bakugou out and bakugou says no but before kirishima's heart can break into a million pieces baku says "do it better next time"

and thus begins the game
kirishima keeps asking bakugou out, each time in a different way. bakugou says no each time.

"If I win this match, go out with me"
"No"

"If I get a good mark on this test, go out with me"
"No way"
he writes it on take-away cups of coffee, he buys flowers, sometimes he just yells it across the room. every time he gets the same answer
1a and b watch the whole thing unfold over three weeks. Half of them are convinced bakugou doesn't even like kirishima, and this is all just some cruel game. Others are super jealous of bakugou (see: hagakure and ashido) that he has someone who would go to all this trouble
tetsutetsu and a couple of others are mad at bakugou for making kirishima jump though all these hoops, and try to convince Kiri to give up. It's not worth it, he's playing you, you deserve better

but Kiri doesn't look at it that way
He knows bakugou likes him, and he knows that eventually he's gonna say yes. He just has to figure out what it is that's gonna get bakugou to accept his affections

This is just a game, a challenge. And if there's one thing Kirishima loves, it's a challenge.
he's tried every romantic gesture in the book, but he's not about to get discouraged, bc everytime he asks him out, bakugou gives him that smirk, that twinkle in his eye, and he knows exactly what it means.
kirishima never knew getting rejected could feel so good.
bakugou feels the same way kirishima feels about him, he knows this. he feels it in the energy between them, he sees it in the looks bakugou sends his way.

eventually, he's gonna say yes, and kirishima can't wait
bakugou loves the attention and the drama, loves seeing how persistent kirishima is, but he's gotta say yes some time

"bakugou, go out with me"
"no"

"bakugou, go out with me"
"no"

they're studying in bakugou's room when kirishima changes tactics. they're both on one side of the table, as they always are, poured over books spread over the table
Kirishima's not actually paying attention. Which is to be expected. He is thinking hard away, though.

He watches Bakugou beside him for a moment, then leans over, closing the small amount of space between the two of them, and places an arm around bakugou's waist
Bakugou looks up, surprised. "What the fuck?"

"Let's go out for lunch on Saturday, okay?"

Bakugou huffs out a laugh, grin on his face as he turns his head forward. "And why would I do that?"

"Cos you're my boyfriend."
He balks. "Hah? Since fucking when?"

Kirishima is unfazed. "Since right now."

"Do I get a fucking choice?"

"Of course. You can reject me right now if you want." He places his other hand over Bakugou's, who drops the pen he was holding. "But I know you won't."
Kirishima continues, bright red eyes staring into Bakugou's. "No more games, Katsuki. I want you, and you want me, so either I'm your boyfriend or I'm not."

He wasn't forceful or overbearing, but he had a strength to his words, a quiet confidence that Bakugou was kinda weak for
He held his hands on Kirishima's chest, slightly clutching at his shirt, unable to look away.
"So what's it gonna be?" Kirishima asked. "Yes or no?"

Their faces were so close their noses were basically touching. Bakugou's hands glided up from Kirishima's chest to his shoulders.

"Yes."
Kirishima smiled. "Can I kiss you?"

"Yes."

"Are you gonna say yes to everything now? Because I might have a few more requests."

Bakugou shoved him so hard he fell backwards. "Fuck off! I can't believe my boyfriend is such a pervert."
Kirishima giggled. "You called me your boyfriend."

"I also called you a pervert," bakugou said with a scoff.

He shrugged as he sat back up. "I can be both."

He scoffed again and grabbed the front of Kirishima's shirt. "Come here and kiss me, pervert boyfriend."

"Gladly."
As far as first kisses go, this wasn't bad, bit they weren't winning any awards either. For two people who had spent the last three weeks constantly flirting, it was very inexperienced.

But that didn't matter to them, because they were finally where they wanted to be. Together.
They pulled apart and Kirishima playfully knocked their heads together.

"I love you, Katsuki."

"I love you more."

"It's not a competition!"

Katsuki just laughed.
