I don't know about the radio station thing but .... The work of Deejays is important. It also builds on top of the work of musicians. So in principle deejays should get a license. https://twitter.com/KenyaCopyright/status/1265222806792548353
What I understand is the latest license tarrif is 10k per year. That's Ksh 27 per day or 150/- per week for deejays to play unlimited music.

But deejays have refused 🤣

Hawataki kulipa Ksh 27/-
It's not unusual. Radio and TV Broadcasters in Kenya have not paid royalties in probably a decade or more.

Kenyans don't respect IP. Unfortunately.
Online however, IMHO, will get very nasty very quickly. YT and FB will get lawsuits and they will have to enforce Copyright. Content ID technology is VERY advanced now. So a streaming license is going to be a thing very soon. It will come from YT and FB. Even Tik Tok.
Imagine of the creators of that Ghanian pall bearers track were paid per play on these platforms. They would be very happy!

Anyway ... To my deejay pals. Let's get used to paying this license. It's not very steep and it's the right thing to do.
