Each of these three rows is a wave function which satisfies the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for a harmonic oscillator.

Matter is made up of extremely tiny particles called atoms and molecules. Atoms and molecules make up the three common states of matter in the (empirically known) universe—solids, liquids, and gases.

All matter (of which we are aware with the five senses of sight, touch, taste, sound, & smell) exists in a quantum field which we experience as a space-time continuum—or our universe.

But let's stay focused on the planet Earth for the sake of this thread.
