After speaking with folks it's really difficult to not get mega-excited over the 2020 #Hokies football roster @HokiesFB. 2016 was a great year for us and it's easy to draw some comparisons between the '16 and 2020 rosters...

Depth Chart Guess-timations.

Exhibit A: OFFENSE.

Initial comparables...Isaiah/Cam/Bucky = Tre/Tay/J-Mitch? 2020 WR depth is talented but unproven.

HH and Evans similar skill sets.

RB Room is a big ? for 2020 w/ Blackshear #NCAA

Will 2020 be the best OL VT has ever had?

I'd say it is fair to say that the 2020 offense is on par with, if not BETTER, than the 2016 unit.

Exhibit B. DEFENSE Guess-timates.

Definites = LB & CB corps. How will all 5 be utilized? VT will rank within top LB/CB units acrossSS/FS/ROV?

2020 DLine = inexperienced but good depth. J-REED will make immediate impact. Until we see a sack-a-thon a-la Miami '16, edge 2016.

Is BJ Joey Slye yet? No, but he did knock down 7/7 to finish the year including a 56 YARDER in the (RIP)BelkBowl.

Oscar is the best punter in the ACC. Quite frankly the best punter in the Western Hemisphere.

So there ya have it. Aside from 5 turnovers at a NASCAR track, an upside-down game in the Carrier Dome, a Paul Johnson L on #Clinchmas, and a 4th quarter INT in Orlando, that 2016 #Hokies team was damn near perfect...cc: @crwilson22001

With this incredibly talented roster, 2020 is the year to make a splash and we need football more than ever in Blacksburg.

PS- goes without saying. Tons of question marks surrounding the new defensive scheme with new coaches across the board.
