Tsukishima and Suna have an interesting dynamic because even though their characters seem similar, their mindsets are divergent
Tsukishima's main point of development in Inarizaki match was coming to his senses and recognizing that if he put a little more effort on things, he could do way better. That's about his attacks with Kageyama's higher sets and his tries on blocking Suna and the twins
Tsukishima's character has a very subtle trait along the story that is the key for his grow: self consciousness
According to Tsukki's initial logic, back then before the shiratorizawa match, any effort he could put into vball would be pointless bcs he'd always be a step behind
So now in this match, Tsukishima is finally trying to wrap his kind around the fact that hey he might actually make it work if he wants to, for once.
Then he meets a very interesting opponent, who wants to make him his little puppet.
Suna is presented as an incredibly prideful and egotistical character. He has some sort of superiority complex when it comes to approaching people, always wanting to find a sore spot he can pick on, so he has the upper hand. Suna's wish is to be in control of everything
That's pretty much how he behaves. He observes and creates patterns that will later dictate faults in his adversary's system and when he gets them in his web, he throws his secret weapon, his attacks
The thing is, Tsukishima also has this kind of observing and taking mental notes style. In their confront, they're both creating tension by looking for each other's weaknesses. Suna's way to trigger Tsukki is through direct and indirect teasing.
Without barely knowing Tsukishima, Suna was able to read and show him exactly what would piss him off the most. The wsy he non verbally states "Hurry up and get on my level" hits Tsukki's unsolved issues regarding his own performance
What Suna didn't predict is that Tsukishima would only get more fired up with that, being a part of his development and his view towards effort and passion, and that his teasing would backfire on him.
So yes, I love how these characters have silently aggressive staring contests through inarizaki match and I think they should make out or something, because this tension is bothering everyone else in the court. And me. Get a room boys. And a therapist.
