Mixed Somali-Korean woman celebrating her graduation from Uni. Muqdishu, 1952.
Soo Abdullahi’s parents met in World War 1. Fell in love and in 1929, they had Soo. ✨❤️
Soo grew up in Muqdishu during Italy’s rule in Somalia. Her father was an educated man who was also a revolutionary man who worked alongside freedom fighters to liberate Somalia.
Growing up, Soo was often ostracized by other Somalis. However, that did not stop her from following in her fathers footsteps! After graduating Uni in 1952, she migrated to Europe to study more on socialism and how to free our people.
Her strength, bravery and beauty drove her to be one of the most influential Somalis in our history. Soo passed away in 1999 due to lung cancer after 50 years of smoking hookah but her legacy lives on through her grandchild, Diana. (Picture below).
