Friends, calling for criminal charges against the white woman who called the cops flies in the face of decades of Black and WOC feminist anti-violence work.

What I know for sure is that hate crime policy continues to fail us. I also know that the state could would weaponize the same practice against our communities.

The same strategy could be used if say...a Black woman/person, WOC or POC calls the police against an actual abuser.

I know it sounds wild af. Please look at story after story of anti-violence policy being weaponized in Black and Brown communities.

I'm not an abolitionists just because I think prisons and policing are inherently violent and must go...

I'm an abolitionist because I know that the systems (nearly every single) we have now will NEVER be vehicles for liberation as they are right now.

They have been and will continue to be turned against us over and over again.

And I also get that folks want punishment in this moment. I get that. All of this is wild and terrible and horrible.

Still, I ask that we take a moment to think this stuff through. Think through what we are demanding.
