When people think of history & Punjab, they automatically think about Central Punjab (& rightly so ofc) BUT there is so much history in the Pothohar region that is either neglected or unexplored. There are SO many historical sites that should be valued way more than they are imo
There is also a weird misconception (ironically one that other Punjabis hold) that Pothohari people are ‘stuck-up’, ‘arrogant’ and ‘illiterate’ and I think this stems from the superiority-complex that some Punjabis have. Pothohar is as much ‘Punjabi’ as Central Punjab is tbh.
Saying things like ‘Pothoharis are not Punjabi’ is so dumb. Most ppl say this simply bc the majority speak Pothwari; a different dialect of Punjabi & bc they are so disconnected from the region. I might just make a thread later about the Pothohar Plateau & its historical gems🥺
