This thought is both tired and exhausting, but ... before 2015, never in my wildest dystopian flights of fancy would I have imagined it possible that we'd ever have a president so fatally, yet so childishly, at war with the truth.
I mean come on. The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is spreading transparent disinformation in an obvious effort to rig the election and he's throwing a mortifying hissy fit because Twitter, trying for once to not passively abet his authoritarian aspirations, called him out for it
Where "calling him out" simply means offering users of the platform a reference to sources of accurate, verifiable information. So, of course, the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES instantly calls THIS -- offering a link to sources of plain fact -- "interfering in the election!"
FACT CHECK: Offering voters accurate information about an election is not a way to interfere in it. To the utmost contrary, the very possibility of a free and fair election depends on the widespread availability of such information. But I think we all see where he's coming from.
But, and here's the real question, why is any of this real?
