Just sitting here thinking about the 1990s and how I believed Strawberries and Champagne body spray from Victoria’s Secret to be the height of olfactory sophistication.
Other 1990s thoughts:

Why did we all dye our hair that burgundy color?

Whatever happened to Christian Slater?

I can’t believe I thought it was a good idea to let some gum-chewing 19-year-old at the Piercing Pagoda punch a bunch of holes in my ear cartilage.
Does the Piercing Pagoda even still exist?

What about Claire’s?

And if Claire’s doesn’t exist, where *do* the youth of today buy their black ribbon chokers with yin-yang/peace symbol pendants?
Hierarchy of 90s mall food court options:

-Soft pretzel
-Sesame chicken from “Chinese” buffet
-Chocolate-vanilla swirl frozen yogurt
-Generic cheese pizza in a triangular box
Controversial 1990s musical opinions:

Nirvana didn’t stand the test of time.

NIN did.

Lilith Fair was awesome.

Tori Amos was underrated.
Now I’m thinking about how the closing song at my senior prom was Baby Got Back and the head of school literally cut the power to stop the DJ but we chanted the rest of the words because damnit it, MY ANACONDA DON’T WANT NONE UNLESS YOU’VE GOT BUNS, HUN.
The theme was SPRINGTIME IN PARIS, because of course it was.

There was a cut-out of the ivory tower and another one of, like, a street lamp, I think?

I was the head of the prom committee (it wasn’t called prom because we were Hipster Prep School, but w/e, it was prom).
I was super goth that year, but that didn’t stop me from having A LOT OF OPINIONS about prom. I proposed a Titanic theme, FWIW. Not bc I was so into Titanic (I mean, I only saw it twice in theaters, which was NOTHING) but bc I thought it would be hilarious and ironic.
Also, even at the time I thought Titanic was dumb, I mean, you have the ENTIRE OCEAN LINER to get it on and you STILL lose your virginity in the backseat of a car? Also, there was totally room for Jack to get on that piece of wreckage too.
In retrospect literally all I did in the 1990s was go to the mall, go to the movies, and lay on my bedroom floor listening to NIN and cutting pictures of hot musicians out of Spin magazine for my wall collage.
